2011 Stacey’s Crue Cuts for Cancer is a HUGE success!
The BTHC Foundation would like to thank the Labossiere’s and everyone who donated money and shaved their heads for another huge success in their fundraising efforts for BTHC Cancer Care in memory of Stacey Hockin. Thanks to everyone who came out on May 14 to raise over $40,000.
Shaving began at 7pm Saturday night.
Here are 4 of the 13 girls that shaved their heads this year.
Janessa Wanders had no plans on shaving her head but spontaneously raised $100 and shaved it all off.
All of the Carman/Dufferin Fire Fighters shaved their heads and also raised more than $1200.
Heidi Sandulak decided that she was going to try and sell each one of her dreadlocks for $250 each.
She did it! Here Jeannette Labossiere cuts off the last strand for a total of $15,000.
Emotional hugs as they remember why they are doing this: To pay tribute to Stacey and others that have lost their lives to cancer, and to make the cancer journey better for others at BTHC.

What is Stacey’s Crue Cuts For Cancer?
Stacey’s Crüe Cuts for Cancer is a fundraiser that began in 2006, raising both Cancer Awareness as well as money for the Boundary Trails Health Centre Cancer Care Unit, all in the memory of Stacey Hockin. Stacey passed away from cancer in the spring of 2006, and as a promise to her, our family held an impromptu “head shaving” event and managed to raise $1,400 for the BTHC. After the success of this first event, we committed to continuing our fundraising efforts for the Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation, dedicating our money to both Cancer Care and Palliative Care.
Since the event in 2006, we have raised over $80,000 for the Foundation, which has helped with the purchase of televisions, a laptop, chemotherapy infusion pumps, and most recently, helped fund the renovations of the Cancer Care Unit at BTHC.
This year will mark our 6th annual Crüe Cuts event, and we will once again be accepting donations from the public before, during, and after the event, and in return we will be giving away promotional t-shirts, as well as shaving heads. In the past 2 years, corporate sponsorship has become a very valuable resource for our event. Sponsorship has helped cover all costs, while at the same time increasing our overall donation amount. This year we would like to increase our sponsorship amount, and with the help of your company, we can make it possible.
