Thank you to Principal Mary Reimer and Carman Collegiate for your incredible donations to cancer care at BTHC! Mary and her team worked tirelessly throughout November, taking orders, making and selling almost 10,000 chocolate mustaches. Mary presented the Foundation with a cheque for $18,260, which smashed her fundraising goal of $12,500. And as an added bonus, the Foundation also received the proceeds from the Carman Cougars high school hockey Cancer Awareness game, another $2,400!
Mary started selling chocolate mustaches in 2021 to support her colleague at Carman Collegiate who was diagnosed with breast cancer. That year, she raised $1,500 for Cancer Care Manitoba. Then in 2022 Mary received her own cancer diagnosis and ran her chocolate mustache fundraiser once again, this time raising over $8,000 for cancer care at BTHC. This year, with more community support and donations, plus a feature on CTV news, Mary and her team sailed past their target of $12,500. Mary, you have an inspired an entire community with your fundraiser, thank you for thinking of the Cancer Care department at BTHC.
