Palliative/Cancer Care

Palliative Care strives to provide compassionate care and support to patients and their loved ones going through a life threatening illness.

The BTHC Foundation uniquely funds two part time specialized nurses who assist in pain and symptom management, and help patients and their families navigate access to specialized programs. These programs include: a Drug Program, an Oxygen Program, a Volunteer Program, the Compassionate Care Benefits Program, and a Bereavement Program, which includes an option for these nurses to continue to follow-up with loved ones after death to provide support and resources as needed.

The Palliative Care program at BTHC also includes a part-time Volunteer Coordinator and approximately 40 volunteers.

The BTHC Foundation has funded the furnishings of nine palliative care rooms which allows ‘extra comforts’ for patients and their families.

It is thanks to generous donations received through the BTHC Foundation that we have such an amazing, specialized and essential program available to southern Manitoba residents.

Thank you for being a part of making this possible!
