Speech Pathology / Audiology

Speech-Language Pathologists that serve Boundary Trails Health Centre deal with the prevention, identification, diagnosis and rehabilitation of preschool children and adults with speech, language, voice and swallowing impairments.

The audiologist provides hearing assessments and, together with other professionals, designs and implements programs of auditory rehabilitation. Priority is given to children (including babies) and adults with special concerns, such as upcoming ear surgery. The audiologist also participates in pre-school wellness screenings.

Since hearing loss is very common almost all of the people seen are from the community. Referrals come from various sources, such as physicians, parents, schools and speech-language pathologists. Priority is given to children (including babies) and adults with special concerns, such as upcoming ear surgery. The audiologist also participates in pre-school wellness screenings./p>
