Victory Lap with Dead Horse Creek Speedway

The Dead Horse Creek Speedway brought dirt track racing back to the Pembina Valley this summer and took the Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation along for the ride. Established as a non-profit organization, all proceeds from the summer racing series were donated directly to the Foundation and the Future is Now Capital Campaign. After two very successful events with record attendance, the speedway’s directors took a victory lap at BTHC and presented a $20,000 donation to the Foundation. Valley Motorsports President Chris Unrau drove his signature #27 car to the hospital for the cheque presentation. Unrau stated that the speedway chose the expansion because “it’s something that’s front of mind, because it’s an asset our community has that’s really special. When you’ve needed this kind of an asset, you need it right now, you need it desperately, and to have such a great facility locally is a real blessing. It’s something that we can all use.”
As the Capital Campaign nears its own finish line, contributions from groups like the speedway are so special because they represent donations from the community at large. It is another example of our region’s generosity that will influence the type and quality of enhanced healthcare services our community will receive at BTHC.

Pumpkin Sale Proceeds to Cancer Care at BTHC

When sales at Charlotte McCutcheon’s pumpkin stand exceeded expectations, she felt grateful for the support from her customers and community and wanted to give back. Charlotte and her family stopped by the hospital to donate $600 raised at her pumpkin sale to cancer care at Boundary Trails Health Centre, in memory and honor of Alex and Teena. Thank you Charlotte and all your pumpkin customers for supporting cancer patients and their families at BTHC!

Volunteers Needed

The Boundary Trails Health Centre Palliative Care program is looking for volunteers to assist with various programs at the hospital. Volunteers make such a difference in our patient experience!
We are looking for people to assist with  in-hospital companion visits, support the meal assist program, run the comfort cart, do community visits, and provide assistance for Cancer Care patients and families.

BTHC volunteer training sessions are taking place Monday, October 16th from 9 am – 3 pm at the Christian Life Centre in Morden. If you want to learn more about our volunteer programs and get involved, please call the BTHC Volunteer Coordinator at (204) 331-8815. Please register by Friday, October 6th.

Miami Youth Raise Funds for Expansion

Thank you to Sari Burnett and Emily Bickford from Miami, who stopped by the Foundation office with almost $1,300 for the Future is Now Capital Campaign. Sari and Emily have ran their Cool Stand for four years now, taking one day out of their summer to sell baking, crafts, cold drinks and freezies all for a good cause. Last year, they raised funds for Cancer Care at Boundary Trails Health Centre. This time, they chose to support the expansion because both girls felt it was important to have a hospital that would benefit the community both now and in the future. Thank you ladies for your big vision, kind hearts and helping us build a hospital for YOUR future.
